Inwood Forest Park & Pool – Why did the park and pool look so bad for 3 weeks after the May derecho? The board president and treasurer did not respond to requests from the management company about contacting vendors to clean up. The same issue arose after Hurricane Beryl in July.
Esplanades – the board president turned the esplanades on Antoine and Victory back to the city of Houston without discussion by the board or a vote. Notification given to the city the day after Hurricane Beryl made landfall and 6 weeks after terminating the previous landscaper without a plan.
A photo taken on 9/22/24 of the unkept, uncut esplanade at Victory/Oak Arbor. The photo illustrates that when something isn’t kept up, others use it as a dumping ground. Not very inviting next to the entry sign of our neighborhood:

The photo below illustrates why we can’t simply brush off the maintenance of our esplanades to the city of Houston. They don’t clean up after themselves and leave the clippings. Those clippings will make it into the sewer, clog the drain and potentially flood your street or property.

The city mowed the Victory esplanades on November 4, 2024 and then again on January 7, 2025.
That is 62 days between mowings.
What is the city’s mowing schedule for the esplanades?
The Parks Department says it mows and edges the esplanades weather permitting as follows:
May to September – Every 21 days
Oct to April – Every 30 days
De-litters esplanades every 3 days. ( We see the same trash for weeks, not days. )
This is their goal, not a guarantee.
